It was a real ” coup de foudre ” for us : Alessandro and Annalisa Guazzotti
We first discovered Essaouira back in 2011 and it was love at the first sight : The roaring wild ocean and the peaceful chaos inside the medina’s wall were a magic combination to us. Shortly after, we run into MaisonA, a rare architectural pearl in the hearth of the medina which soon became a necessary getaway from the stressful “civilized” world. No matter which season of the year, the sun is always shining on the wide Riad’s terraces, while on a stormy day you could almost feel like touching the ocean. The cozy and elegant interior seemed to be created as a strike contrast to the exterior’s Moroccan light. Late evening dinners in front of the fire place soon became a must. The dream became true and ever since we discovered MaisonA for the first time, we enjoyed it together with the people we love, always trying to improve the little small details that make our home in Essaouira a unique destination in the world.
the original project created by the belgian architectural firm Urban platform add a strong touch of northern european design always respecting the spirit and characteristics of an ancient riad that has a structure going back to many centuries.
